MCC is in the best interest of the country: Prime Minister Deuba

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has reiterated that the recently ratified Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact has been in the best interest of the country.

Speaking at a program in Nuwakot on Monday, Prime Minister Deuba reminded the UML leaders that the MCC Compact was tabled in the parliament when KP Oli was the Prime Minister.

Expressing dissatisfaction with UML lawmaker Rawal, Prime Minister Deuba said that those who were pushing for MCC’s passage while in power have no meaning to protest now.

“Why didn’t Bhim Rawal protest the agreement  when he was in the role of Defense Minister in the cabinet?” he asked, adding, “Then the government could suggest the amendment if it felt needed or he could quit the government if he did not agree with the government decision.”

Prime Minister Deuba remarked that MCC has been in the best interest in the country and his government forwarded the MCC proposal prepared by the then Oli government.

“I just ratified the agreement that was presented in the House of Representatives by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli,” he clarified.
